Vasilis Dakos
I am senior researcher (CR1) in the BioDICée team in the Institut des Sciences de l’Evolution de Montpellier (ISEM) at CNRS (the French National Scientific Research Centre).
I am broadly interested in ecological stability, tipping points, and how eco-evolutionary feedbacks may affect ecosystem resilience under global change. In particular, my research focuses on the emerging topic of indicators for resilience (or early-warning signals) for critical transitions in complex systems.
I was born in the city of Thessaloniki in Greece. I received a Bachelor in Biology in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and a Master’s degree in Hydrology and Water Quality Management in Wageningen University in the Netherlands. In 2011, I obtained my PhD in theoretical ecology at the Department of Aquatic Ecology in Wageningen University. I live in Montpellier in the south of France.
