Marlies Vollebregt

Marlies Vollebregt holds a BSc and MSc degree in Forest and Nature Conservation from Wageningen University, specializing in Ecology. The title of her PhD project is ‘Generic Early Warning Signals for Critical Transitions’. The project started in June 2012 as part of the ERC advanced grant research of Prof. Dr. M. Scheffer.

Currently, early warning signals have mainly been shown in modelling experiments or reconstructed time series. Only very few experiments have been performed to show early warning signals. The aim of this project is to perform ecological experiments in order to find early warning signals in living systems, ranging from chemostat experiments with algae to field experiments in a full scale ecosystem.
